It’s the time of the year when parents who have children entering primary school will start to prepare for the primary one (P1) registration for 2019, which is just around the corner.
This is set to take place from 3 July 2019 for children entering P1 in 2020.
The whole process, from the pre-registration to results day, can be intimidating to parents, even for those who have done it before.
Here are some important dates to keep in mind and tips to help you along for the upcoming P1 registration.
Important Dates to note for P1 Registration 2019
According to the MOE website, the registration of children for admission to P1 next year will start on 3 July 2019 and end on 31 October 2019.
Registration is open to kids who are born from Jan 2, 2013 to Jan 1, 2014 and those who seek deferment must fill in the application on the compulsory education webpage.
Phases for P1 registration 2019
Phase 1: For siblings of current students who are looking to study in the same school
Registration Dates: 3 to 4 July 2019
Applications under this phase will be somewhat guaranteed a place to enter the school of choice. Parents may register their child through the older siblings, who will be given the registration form by the school.
Phase 2A(1): For children whose parents are either alumnus of the primary school or are members of the School Advisory/Management Committee
Registration Date: 9 July 2019
Registration time: 8am to 11am / 2.30pm to 4.30pm at the school of choice
Results: 12 July 2019
Parents must have joined the alumni association as a member before 30 June 2018.
Phase 2A(2): For children whose parent or sibling is an alumni or whose parent is a staff member.
Registration Dates: 15 & 16 July 2019
Registration time: 8am to 11am / 2.30pm to 4.30pm at the school of choice
Results: 19 July 2019
Children who went to an MOE Kindergarten under the purview of and is located within the primary school of choice can also register under this phase.
Phase 2B: For children whose parent has either joined as a parent volunteer or is a member endorsed by the church/clan directly connected with the school
Registration Dates: 22 and 23 July 2019
Results: 26 July 2019
Parents must have joined the parent volunteer committee no later than 1 July 2018 and has contributed at least 40 hours of service to the school by 30 June 2019. Children of parents who are endorsed as an active community leader will also be eligible.
Phase 2C: Open to all children who are eligible for P1 in 2020 and are not yet registered in a primary school
Registration Dates: Online – 29 July 2019, 9am to 31 July 2019, 4.30pm / In-person at the primary school of choice – 30 July to 1 August 2019
Registration time: 8am to 11am / 2.30pm to 4.30pm at the school of choice
Results: 7 August 2019
Phase 2C Supplementary: For children who are yet to be registered after 2C
Registration Dates: Online – 12 August, 9am to 13 August 2019, 4.30pm / In-person at the primary school of choice – 13 to 14 August 2019
Registration time: 8am to 11am / 2.30pm to 4.30pm at the school of choice
Results: 21 August 2019
Phase 3: For children of non-Singapore citizens/non-permanent resident parents who have indicated their interest and are informed by MOE in October 2019 that they can be offered a P1 place.
Results: 31 October 2019
Parents of non-residents and non-citizens must have submitted an online form indicating interest from 4 June 9am to 10 June 4.30pm. MOE will inform parents of the result via postal mail in October, and successful applicants will register at the designated school in October 2019.
Note:
Be sure to have important documents like the birth certificates and NRICs of both parents on hand. Do check the MOE website for what documents to bring when registering for different phases.
